I can't wait for Aerial Arts Festival at the end of the summer, not just because of all the Yoga Workshop but also the atmosphere of the circus and the Hula Hoop Workshops!
And not just an average Hula Hoop Workshop but a very special one with Chris Gogler aka C-section! He's finally coming to teach us in Vienna!
What you need to know about him?
Chris is a hoop dancer originally from Australia. With a background and some formal training in ballet and contemporary dance, Chris stumbled across hooping some number of years ago and has been hooked ever since.
His style is unique, combining elements of classical and contemporary dance with object manipulation and burlesque. C-Section tells romantic and fantastic stories through movement with a healthy dose of cheekiness and sass.
C-Section now lives in Berlin and has taught at events across Europe including the German Hoop Convention, Heart and Hoop Dance Retreat, Hooplaland, the Italian Hoop Connection, Manchester Hoop Congress, Rendez V’Hoop, the Scottish Hoop Convention, SWHOOP and the European Juggling Convention.
Meet the remarkable Hula Hoop Artist Chris Gogler aka C-Section in Vienna: From Friday, 30. August until Sunday, 01. September you’ll get the chance to learn unique tricks and flows at his three different workshops. Surrounded by circus atmosphere the workshops are part of the wide-ranging program of the 3rd Aerial Arts Festival Austria (https://www.aerialartsaustria.com/).

For this season our HulaHoop events are ended but don't worry after a small summer holiday everything will go as usual.
Until that here are some interesting questions and info!
Which direction do you spin your hoop? 🤷♀️⠀
Most people I know naturally spin to the left. Much fewer people spin to the right. Why is that so? Does it matter if you are left or right handed?
MAYBE. If your right hand is dominant, it is the first to grab the hoop and then spin in to the left. BUT not everybody who spins to the right is left handed.
CONCLUSION: I think it is only a habit. The way we start is how we continue.
Should you train to hoop the other direction?
-> YES of course!
Did you know that the longest recorded duration for a single hula hoop to be hooped is 74 hours and 54 minutes, a record set in the US by Aaron Hibbs in 2009?
For how long can you hoop? I'm really curious!
Have a nice summer to you all and let's meet in small Hoop gigs! Stay tuned!
Vienna Spring Hoop Jam is coming this weekend!
One of my favorite event in the year and this is already 6th year in a row! It's like a real tradition now!
After this event I know that outdoor season is really here and from now on good weather is a real thing that we (more or less) count on. This year's weather might be a bit tricky but it's not going to stop us! Weather forecast is already around 20 degree for the weekend!
I love these events because it's not strictly about Hooping but more about bringing the Hula Hoop Community together in Vienna. It's an amazing feeling to know that you share a passion with so many people and we all can have fun together! I'd like to help in creating this community and let you meet with like-minded people! We share one interest for sure, even two if I count nature and I think I can count it. How many other things we might share? Let's have fun and find out together!
In the Spring Hoop Jam beginner, intermediate and advanced students are all welcome!
This is a fun event where we can move our body and enjoy nature together! Until that check out these lovely photos here!
Hope to see everyone there,
Hooping by the sea! Best feeling ever. 😊⠀
This shot was taken at Canggu beach during my last few days in Bali... awww missing it already! 😆⠀
Usually, I do this trick with 6 hoops, one more on the knee... but it was just impossible in the sand! 🙃What a challenge - bring it on!⠀
Sunrise is the most magical time of the day! I went back to bed after this though for a little nap lol. It started raining shortly after the most glorious sunrise and this little hooping session ... the raindrops on the window made me sleepy again. 😴💤 slept till midday 😜⠀
Which multi-hoop trick are you working on today?
I'm already back to Vienna ready for all the great events we've planned to you! Until that here's the last piece of Bali facts I wanted to share with you!
Every year I learn more about this fascinating culture, did you know that...⠀
🌴Balinese names are given to children to show the order of birth: ⠀
1st: Wayan, Putu or Gede⠀
2nd: Made or Kadek⠀
3rd: Nyoman or Komang⠀
🌴If a family has more than four children, the cycle repeats ⠀
🌴These names are equally used for male and female and there are no family names which can be very confusing, so people start to add nicknames.⠀
🌴The decreasing tendency in child birth makes the last two names disappear so the government supports to have at least four children in a family.👩👩👧👦⠀
I truly hope we will meet in one of our Hoop events ! Check them out in www.hulahoopworkshop.at
It's time to say goodbye to this beautiful island I could call home for a few months. This goodbye is temporary I'm sure of that.
In the meantime I bring you some interesting stories and facts from my journey.
Indonesia is the third most bio-diverse country in the world. Their natural treasures are endless. Even in such a small island like Bali, you can find everything from mountains, volcanos, lakes, beaches, jungle and my favorites: the waterfalls.⠀💦💦
💧💧Waterfalls on Bali are countless and compared to some waterfalls I have visited in Thailand, here on Bali they all have huge amounts of water pouring down. I think even people who live here have no idea how many waterfalls can actually be found in Bali.⠀
This picture was taken at NungNung waterfall which is about 20 km or 1 hour drive north of Ubud about 900 meters above sea level. Exactly 509 steps are leading down into the valley and once you arrive the sight of this amazing spectacle is simply stunning.⠀
The water pouring down is so strong and fast - you can't get very close to it. But you can swim in the pool of water right beneath it. The water is spraying in all directions as you can see in the video - top challenge for multi-hooping!⠀⭕️⭕️⭕️
Bali has me so fascinated with its true magic! These days are more yoga focused but Hooping never stops! Sunrise and sunset are the best times to hoop on the beach! A new morning is a new beginning! Usually I don't like to get up early! But a sunrise on the beach is something special! It is never to late to find a new passion and start living your dream!
Bali really is a magic place to be. It may be a small island but its landscapes are so divers that one can find a multitude of adventure: ⠀
Temples, cliffs, waterfalls, volcanos, hot springs, black & white sand beaches ... just to name a few!🌊⠀⠀
I carry my hoops around wherever I go - to pull them out for a spin every now and then!
Connecting with the local Hoop and AcroYoga community here makes my stay here even more enriching and fun! ❤🌴⠀
The Yoga retreat ended already and now is time of Bali Spirit Fest. Have you ever done a yoga retreat? 😍
It can be a life changer for many of us not just 100% yoga junkies but to beginners as well.
🌱It's a journey that resets your mind to focus on the present moment.
🌱Recharge your energy for the challenges of daily life.
🌱Spend time with like minded people and find inspiration!
During all kind of sports we have the same questions, no matter if it's Hooping or Yoga:
❓Am I good enough?
❓Am I strong enough?
❓Am I light enough?
❓Am I skilled enough?
❗️ENOUGH of that. .
In Yoga and in Hula Hoop we believe in abundance and that everybody can join the game! Regardless age and previous experiences. We lift each other up. Not only physically - also mentally and emotionally! This is our mission. .
✅ 🚀Join us on the adventure. Make new friends with open hearts and open minds!
